CONVERSION EXPERIENCE
I came to the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord when I was five. I remember asking my father many questions about sin and about Jesus. I was in my home when I approached my dad and told him that I wanted to ask Jesus to come into my heart. That day He gloriously saved me and forgave me from all my sin and began a relationship with me that has changed me forever. His grace truly is “Amazing Grace!”
CALL TO THE MINISTRY
When I was thirteen, I started feeling the Lord’s call on my life. I went to my pastor and he pointed me to the Scriptures and to prayer. After studying 2 Timothy and praying with my father and both of my pastors, I surrendered to the call of God. I know that the Lord has called me to preach His word. I have learned much about the call God has placed on my life since that time, but I still have much more to learn. As I have continued my education, I have come to realize that part of God’s call on my life includes a teaching ministry. I have a strong desire to lead young people at the college level to examine and defend beliefs that they hold and to challenge them to think and live biblically in today’s society.
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
My personal faith and my preaching and teaching are based on the conviction that the Bible is God’s Word, given by the inspiration of God. It is therefore, “profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” The Word of God is truth without error. It is the final authority in all areas of knowledge and wisdom. I view the world through the truth of God’s Word. I am committed to a careful study of God’s Word so that I may be “complete” and “thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
I am committed to the Word of God and the call of God to obedience to Christ as His Gospel and mission are generally understood by Baptists and are set forth in the current “Baptist Faith and Message” statement.
